Welcome to the category where two pursuits meet. Here you will find Raching’s combination cabinets: units with separate climate zones, in which Cuban cigars and vintage wines are each kept under their own conditions. Two models.

That is technically different from a humidor with an extra compartment. Wine and cigars ask for different conditions, and those cannot be reconciled in a single space without one side losing out.

Why two separate zones

Cigars want 65 to 75 percent humidity at a moderate temperature. Wine wants a lower, stable temperature and is far less sensitive to humidity. A combination cabinet regulates both zones separately:

• Its own setting per zone: each half has its own temperature and humidity control, rather than one average that suits neither.
• No transfer of aroma: the zones are separated, so tobacco takes on no wine notes and the reverse.
• Spanish cedar in the cigar zone: buffers moisture and deters tobacco beetles.
• A compressor built for the job: Embraco compressors with copper lines, designed for the moderate cooling wine storage asks for.
• One unit, one footprint: instead of two cabinets side by side.
